Express ISP Change
DSL Service involves "Line Share". This is an administrative record that informs the Telephone Company that your phoneline has DSL, and with which Internet Service Provider. This record is in place to prevent conflicting orders from other service providers. Only one service provider may have "Line Share" at a time. This can cause conflicts when changing Internet Service Providers.
If you currently have DSL and would like to switch to DSL Extreme, the following options will be presented during registration:
If you choose "Yes, DSL Extreme can take over..." you are authorizing the Telephone Company to transfer the Line Share record to DSL Extreme. You will still have to cancel DSL service with your current ISP, but will not have to wait for their cancellation to complete before ordering service DSL Extreme.
If you choose "No, I will get my service disconnected..." DSL Extreme will wait for Line Share to be removed from your line before processing your order. As noted, this may delay service activation with DSL Extreme for as long as 14 days.
