Personal Web Space Overview
Legacy Personal web space:
Note: Personal web space is a legacy service. New webspaces can no longer be created. Existing webspaces will continue to work with limited functionality.
To see your personal webspace go to: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/username/ where username is the prefix of your dslextreme email address. For example, if your email address is [email protected], you would enter http://members.dslextreme.com/users/patsmith/
Modifying your site: The Personal Webspace Manager is no longer available. To modify your web page you'll need to use a FTP client to upload and download files to your Webspace. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol (the protocol used to transfer files to our webspace server). If you don't already have an FTP client, we recommend using FireFTP, a plugin that adds FTP capability to the Firefox web browser. While you are free to use any FTP client available, FireFTP is free and works well (be aware that FireFTP does not work with Firefox version 57 or above). You can also use an online FTP site like net2FTP:
http://www.net2ftp.com/
FireFTP can be found at:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fireftp/ To install FireFTP, click on the Add to Firefox button.
Once installed (you may have to restart your browser) access FireFTP by 1) going to the Firefox menu (the three horizontal bars at the rightmost side of the toolbar in firefox) and 2) select Developer, then 3) FireFTP in the menu that is displayed.
With FireFTP running, click on the dropdown just to the right of the 'Connect' option. Select create an account.
This opens the Account Manager.
- In the Account Name field, enter your DSLExtreme username.
- In the 'ID' section put your username (without the DSLExtreme.com suffex) in the Login field. IE: for "[email protected]", you would enter "username" (without the quotes).
- In the 'Password' field, enter your personal webspace password. Note that personal webspace no longer updated passwords after 2015 so the password for your personal webspace may be an older one.
- Once logged in, you will see your local files (the files on your computer) on the left. The files on our server will be listed on the right. Select a file then click on the green arrows to download and upload files. You can also right-click on files for further actions.
If you have another FTP client, the above settings should work as well.
