Setting up POP Email in Outlook 2003  

Note: Outlook 2003 is no longer supported by Microsoft. For your computer's security, please use a currently supported email program.


Launch Outlook 2003

On the Toolbar, click Tools and select E-mail Accounts from the menu.



 

Select Add a new e-mail account.

Click Next to continue.

 

Select POP3 from the list of options.

Click Next to continue.



User Information:

In the "Your Name" field enter your name.
In the "E-mail Address" field enter your e-mail address. ([email protected])

Server Information:
For the "Incoming mail server (POP3)" enter "mail.dslextreme.com"
For the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" enter "smtp.dslextreme.com"

Logon Information:
For the "User Name" enter your e-mail address.
Enter the password to the e-mail account in the "Password" field.
Important: Passwords are case-sensitive. Ensure your Caps Lock is disabled.

Check the "Remember password" box.

Click the "More Settings" button.


 

Click the "Outgoing Server" tab:

Check the box "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."

Select Log on using, and enter

Enter your full e-mail address as the "User Name". ([email protected])
Enter the password of the e-mail account as the "Password".
Important: Passwords are case-sensitive. Ensure the Caps Lock is disabled.

Check the "Remember password" box.


Click the Advanced Tab
"Incomming mail (POP3)" should be set to "995" and "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" should be checked.
"Outgoing mail (SMTP)" should be set to "465" and "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" should be checked.
"Server Timeouts" should be set to the furthest right setting, "Long (10 minutes)" .


Click OK.

Click Next to continue.
 

Click Finish to complete the wizard.
