Error 630, The Modem/ COM Port disconnected due to hardware failure FIX 1. Close all programs. Including browser, dialer. 2. Go to your Control Panel, Click on System, Device manager. Is the modem there? If you have multiple modems get rid of one. If NO, go to step 7 or continue with steps. 3. Control Panel, modem/ phones & modems, How many modem do you see? If multiple get rid of one. Is the modem attached to a com. Port? If modem is not attached to the port go to step 7 or continue with steps 4. For Windows 95/98/ME check if the dialer can dial a number. Click Start>Programs>Accessories>Communications>Dial. For Windows XP/2000 go to Control Panel, Phones & Modems, click on Modem Tab, Properties, Advance, Diagnostics, Query modem. If modem cannot dial or query fails go to step 7, or continue with steps. 5. Check for system resource. It should be 80 % free (98/ME) In windows XP/2000 check for page file should be 50 + Amount of RAM. Windows 95 PC using win modem & using Intel MMX processor. Change Modem! If it's an AMD processor, then RESTART. 6. If System Resource is higher than 80 % used & it's a win modem:Go to Start, Run> msconfig, press ok Click on START UP TAB Uncheck all startup files except scan registry, system tray, and load power profile. Click Apply, OK, Restart. Try connecting the connection again. 7. If you are still having trouble reinstall the modem only if you have the driver. NOTE: This is for a Dialup Modem
