Sleeping Beauty Castle Unveiled at NFFC ConventionBob Olszewski showed the first prototype of the Sleeping Beauty Castle from the Disneyland Village at the NFFC Convention July 20. The Castle is beautiful, detailed, and magical. Measuring about 7 inches tall, the colors are sparkling on this first Disneyland Village piece. The molt, trees, fence on walkway, chains on castle door, mural in back, and Aurora and Prince Phillip inside a turret are some of the details of the sculpture. The water of the molt gives the Castle a magical feel. Collectors were wow'd by the Sleeping Beauty Castle. "Looks great," "Best castle I've ever seen," and "When can I get it?" were some of the words heard during the Convention. Olszewski Studios took about 200 formal request for brochures when the Castle becomes available. The Castle is scheduled for sale at Disneyland November or December of 2002. The Event original scheduled for September 22 has been postponed until November or December. Price is approximately $195. Other Disneyland Village pieces scheduled to follow are the Hub, Fire Station, and Train Station. Bob plans to make one major piece per quarter with some accessories in between. These pieces will cost less than $150 each. New Storytime Pieces Premiers at NFFC Show and SaleAt the NFFC Show and Sale held July 22, Bob Olszewski premiered several new Storytime cameos. "A Spell is Cast" shows Maleficent standing over Auora, arms raised, and ready to cast a spell. Tinkerbell Through Keyhole shows Tinkerbell trying to get through a keyhole. Dress for Cinderelly shows birds and mice making Cinderella her first dress. "A Spell is Cast" was the most popular and garnered the most preorders. No prices nor delivery dates were given. Storytime Wins Miniature of the Year.The National Association of Limited Edition Dealers (NALED) selected Time to Wash (Snow White soup scene) Miniature of the Year. The announcement was made at the NALED Banquet held at the International Collectibles Exposition June 29. Olszewski Reveals Pictures of Summer ReleasesScarecrow Don't Talk - is the first Wizard of Oz cameo. The cameo shows the Scarecrow giving direction to Dorothy and pointing to the yellow brick row. If you look at the background, you can see the Yellow Brick Road going off into the forest. The perspective is such that you can "see" 200 yards back. Issue price is $195. Hide and Squeak - is the new cameo from Cinderella. It shows little Gus hiding behind a teacup, and big Lucifer about to pounce on the little mouse. This Big/Small style gives the cameo magical look. Issue price is $95 and available this summer. |
Going Home - is new cameo from Snow White and the
Seven Dwarfs. It shows the 7 Dwarfs marching across
a log bridge. Olszewski paints shadows of the dwarfs on
the log, like Walt Disney added shadows in his animated
features. Issue price is $185 and release date is Summer.Little Black Rain Cloud - is the new cameo from Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. It shows Winnie the Pooh cover in mud. Issue price is $45 and release date is Summer. A Spell is Cast - is the new cameo from Sleeping Beauty. It shows Maleficent raising her scepter and ready to cast a spell. Baby Auora is in a basket below. No issue price or release date have been given. Update on Spring ReleasesAll the Spring Releases have arrived at the stores except for the following: Anytime You Whistle depicts Jiminy Cricket dancing on a large violin. Jiminy's shadow is shown on a wall in the background. There is an overall red hue to this piece. Price is $145, and release date is July. International NewsIn Japan, Tokyo Disneyland has ordered the Storytime Collection. So now, Tokyo Disneyland, Japan's Disney Stores, the Edom Department Stores are carrying the Storytime Collection..
