HistoryRobert Olszewski has been making miniature figurines since 1978. He was the premier artist for the Goebel Miniature Studios in the 80's and early 90's. Robert started his own Studio in 1994 and began the Storytime Collection in 2000. Click here to see the full biography of Robert Olszewski. Robert begins the design of the miniature sculpture in wax. He then makes a master mode in sterling, from which all the production modes are made. Each figurine is cast in the production modes and hand painted. Robert created small edition size miniatures before he joined Goebel in 1979. None of them consists of Disney subjects, so they will not be chronicled here. Between 1979 and 1994, Robert made many figurines for Goebel, about 30% of which are Disney. They are listed under Goebel Disney. It is interested to note that while at Goebel Miniature Studios, he created the WDCC Dress for Cinderelly and designed the first miniature for Disneyana Convention in 1994. He left before completing the Mickey Self Portrait, so another Goebel artist finished it. Between 1994 and 2000, Robert evolved his craft. He perfected the use pewter instead of bronze to make his figurines. Robert learned to use different shades of white to create a western effect or a porcelain effect. So now he can paint pewter and resin to look like porcelain. He evolved his cameo concept that became the Storytime Collection and theater concept that became the Disneyana Convention miniature. The final step was to find a factory in China to make the Storytime figurines. He found a good one in 2000. This lower the average price of his figurines from $800 to $100. High quality and low cost are what he is offering in the Storytime Collection. In December 2002, Olszewski introduced the Disneyland Main Street USA collecton.
