Our California BugSmasher (CB-S) coils are manually tuned for maximum efficiency. Tuning is simple, just loosen the brass set screw and slide the tuning bar up or down the coil form for lowest SWR within the frequency range you desire. When you have achieved the SWR you desire then all you have to do is twist (CCW) the slide bar tight against the coil form and then, with pressure against the coil form from the brass band, retighten the brass set screw and you are good to go!

Our coils perform best with a stainless whip cut to approximately 75 inches in length but your application may require that you experiement with the length of the whip so that the performance is optimum. All chrome connections on our coils, both upper and lower are 3/8 X 24 female thread. These connectors will accomodate most if not all other manufactured support hardware.

Cleaning the coil form occassionally is suggested depending on climate and how many bugs, thus the name of our product, you acquire. Recently a dead "Bat" was discovered on one of our customers coils. We are not going to change the name of our coils to the "California Bat Smasher" at this time, although it is tempting!
