Common Issues and Setup Information

Offline Address Book   In order for Exchange 2007 customers using Outlook 2007 to download the Offline Address Book, an 'autodiscover' CNAME DNS record needs to be created. If you are using DSLExtreme's DNS servers this record will automatically be created and nothing needs to be done.

If you are using your own nameservers a CNAME record needs to be created that redirects 'autodiscover.domain.com' to 'mob.exchangecarrier.net'. (Substitute domain.com with your actual domain name. Without this DNS record, Outlook 2007 users will receive an 'object not found' error after connecting to their Exchange mailboxes.

In addition to the Offline Address Book, the Out of Office Autoresponse and Free/Busy Calendar features will not function properly if the 'autodisover' entry does not exist.
Sharepoint Hosting  After you have signed up for Sharepoint hosting, (Exchange 2007 customer only) DSLExtreme will automatically add a DNS entry for your new Sharepoint site within 24 hours. You will receive an email that includes the full URL and DNS record setup instructions if you are hosting your own DNS for your domain name. Users can manage different roles (Admin, User, Designer, Reader, etc) through https://ems1.dslextreme.net under the User Management -> Users -> Services -> Sharepoint option.

If you currently are not signed up for Sharepoint and wish to do so, DSLExtreme offers a free 50mb site with an easy upgrade path. To sign up, please send mail to support@exchangecarrier.net or contact us at 866-491-7221
Split-Domain Setup  A split domain will allow your organization to host email on both DSLExtreme's Exchange 2007 platform and a remote mail system. This is useful if your company has a large POP3 installation and would like to setup a subset of users on Hosted Exchange.

To have this enabled, please send an email to support@exchangecarrier.net. Include your domain name and the remote smtp servers that handle mail for your domain. There will be a $20 setup fee.
